Published by Sternberg Press, SouthEastAsia: Spaces of the Curatorial focuses on the practice of curating in Southeast Asia, a region experiencing a time of increased global visibility as well as nation and institution building. The publication brings together a diversity of voices that mirror the complexity of the region itself: its various curatorial spaces, infrastructures, and political systems.
SouthEastAsia: Spaces of the Curatorial is edited on behalf of the Association of Arts and Culture of the German Economy at the Federation of German Industries by Professor Ute Meta Bauer, NTU CCA Singapore Founding Director and art historian, Brigitte Oetker with the editorial consultancy of art critic Lee Weng Choy. The publication includes contributions by Ute Meta Bauer, Zoe Butt, Kevin Chua, Patrick D. Flores, Gridthiya Gaweewong, Tony Godfrey, Yin Ker, Eileen Legaspi-Ramirez, Seng Yu Jin, Simon Soon, Nora A. Taylor, and David Teh.
With support of Art Stage Singapore, this event marks the first launch of the publication in Southeast Asia in the presence of several of its contributors including Ute Meta Bauer, Zoe Butt, Gridthiya Gaweewong, Tony Godfrey, Yin Ker, Seng Yu Jin. Several book launching events will follow throughout the year in Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Chiang Mai, and Berlin.
